Implants are an effective, natural and durable solution for one or more missing teeth. Made from titanium posts, they are placed in the jaw bone and eventually fuses to the surrounding bone and mimics natural tooth roots. These posts will provide a firm foundation for crowns, bridges and dentures.

A perfect candidate for implants must have good oral health and a strong jaw bone, as the implant will need support from the surrounding teeth and jaw. Implants are an alternative to traditional dentures, they have the benefit of acting just like real teeth, for a natural look and maximum comfort.

As well as improving eating and speaking ability, implants help to prevent shrinkage of the jawbone and enhance your facial shape. Other restorative treatments require the removal of a layer of healthy surrounding teeth, with implants this is not necessary.

What happens during treatment?

We will assess your suitability for implants by checking your general and oral health and carry out a CT scan to check the density of your jaw bone. Followed by an in-depth discussion of your individual needs and what we can achieve.

In some cases, where there is insufficient bone volume in your jawbone, a procedure known as bone-grafting may be necessary. A temporary crown or bridge can be placed, during the restoration process of your jawbone. Once the titanium posts are bonded to the surrounding bone and fully healed, we can fit your permanent replacement teeth.

After your initial consultation, we will create a tailor-made treatment plan complete with full cost breakdown, treatment options and status of treatment for you to take home. Treatment time may vary from immediate to few months subject to healthy bone and gums

Aftercare

Implant placement will be carried out under local anaesthetic and you can expect some discomfort for a few days after, so you may be advised to take painkillers and you may wish to book time off work.

You need to take care of your implants in the same way you would care for your natural teeth, with a good oral hygiene regimen of brushing and flossing to stay clean and healthy. You should also see your dentist for regular check-ups so they can make sure your implants stay in great condition.
